This artwork began as a fun painting day with my grandson, who was visiting summer of 2018. We painted the same image so he could see my approach and learn from me. But God had another idea and I also had something important to learn.
Early morning Colorado landscapes are filled with vibrant colors as the sun makes its grand entrance. The sky reveals God’s glory reminding mankind of His eternal presence in their lives. Dew laden clouds cover the ground show how man’s life is often filled with the kind of struggles that leave many feeling they are in a cloud. And it can leave one with the kind of hopelessness that is difficult for even the hardiest.
The eyes of my heart is the important issue here. When I am focused on Jesus; developing a meaningful relationship with Him, my faith is strengthened. This is especially important during a tough trial.
Hebrews 12:1-2 states, “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
How easy it is to go about life and forget connection with God makes everything in life meaningful. That is why this painting was so important for me personally. I have to have a reminder that everything good in my life is connected to Jesus Christ and my eyes focused upward keeps me centered on Who is my source of hope.
